About the Company
GF Sargent Design, LLC has a 35 year history in the golf course design, restoration, remodeling, construction and management, including service to more than two dozen golf courses and resorts in the New England area. We are proud to maintain ongoing relationships with our clients, and to actively serve many of these clients each year, providing ongoing maintenance and upgrades as well as management and consulting to ensure their courses perform optimally.
Formerly known as Wogan & Sargent, Inc., a premiere golf architecture firm that was closely tied to the lineage of Donald Ross, GF Sargent Design, LLC was established in 2003 by George F. Sargent, Jr. upon the retirement of his partner, Philip Wogan. The first clients of the new company included the same courses, owners and superintendents we served as Wogan & Sargent, Inc., for whom we continued to provide exceptional architecture and design services. Since then, GF Sargent Design has continued to expand our services and client list to include some of the most challenging and rewarding golf course design and renovation projects in New England.
GF Sargent Design is part of The GF Sargent companies, a group that also includes Links Management Services of New England, the golf course management division. While each division runs independently, they frequently work in tandem on larger-scale projects to provide our clients with seamless, consistent service.
Our Philosophy
At GF Sargent Design, our beliefs stem from our history and directly lineage to Donald Ross. We are committed to producing designs that blend with the natural excitement of the land, foliage and water surrounds. We believe in maintaining as much of the beauty of the native landscape as possible, while simultaneously crafting a course design that is both challenging and enjoyable for all levels of golfer.
We do not believe that you can take a shortcut to greatness. Producing a course that is aesthetically pleasing, environmentally sound and fiscally responsible requires careful planning, meticulous attention to detail and flawless execution. We are experienced in exactly that, and take pride in bringing an award-winning level of design and top level management capabilities to provide outstanding but affordable solutions to our clients.
Most importantly, we understand that one of the keys to success for any golf operation is the financial sustainability of the course. We keep this in mind during all phases of development, and pay particular attention to the maintenance requirements and budgetary constraints throughout the project to provide our clients with a course that encompasses the best in artful execution and business acumen.
